MSC-derived Exosomes

Exosomes are small extracellular vesicles ranging from 30 to 100 nm in diameter, secreted by various cell types. Although exosomes are non-living vesicles, they require cryogenic storage to preserve their biological activity and structural integrity. These vesicles play a crucial role in intercellular communication by transferring proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. Exosomes derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stromal cells carry specific markers such as CD9, CD63, and CD81. They are of particular interest in jurisdictions where allogeneic hUC-MSCs are prohibited or expensive.
